With so many families a part of our community, we have found that adults (parents, single, and non-parents) need to have some times where they can worship and enjoy adult company. At Atonement, we try and mix in adult events with their interests in mind.
Weekly Morning Prayer – Advent Reflections
“Advent beckons to us. Be still. Be alert.”
From Fresh Bread by Joyce Rupp, OFM
The season of Advent is filled with promise, filled with waiting….waiting for the coming of the Christ Child. All too often, the season is jam-packed with busy preparation for holiday celebrations with family and friends, often to the point that we miss the message.
During the month of December at Weekly Morning Prayer, we’ll pause for a half hour of quiet reflection on the real meaning of Advent in our lives. On December Wednesdays we’ll offer two times for Morning Prayer: one at 7:30 a.m. for early birds and for those who need to head off to the office, the other at 9:00 a.m. We meet in the Prayer Room just off the narthex, directly opposite the sanctuary.
Weekly Advent Morning Prayer reminds us to slow down and wait. We light a candle. We join with others in prayer and recognize the holiness of the season in our everyday lives. Come and join us!

Conference on Prayer
Many of you will recall the conferences we hosted a few years back. Filled with inspiring speakers and workshops and joyful worship, these conferences provided us an opportunity to share, learn and grow in our prayer lives.
This all-day event will begin with morning prayer and a keynote speaker. We hope to have an announcement for you very soon about our keynote speaker and the conference theme. Attendees will pre-register for one of four concurrent workshops in the morning, and one in the afternoon. The date has been set: Saturday, April 27, 2013, so be sure to mark your calendars. The registration fee for the conference will be $30 and will include lunch and break beverages, as well as all conference materials. If you would like to be part of the conference planning process, or perhaps volunteer for the day at registration, help in the bookstore, or help with lunch, please let me know.
CALLING ALL MEN!
Mark your calendars for the third Saturday of the month at 8:00 a.m. at
church for a superb Breakfast and Bible Study. We’ll gather for food
and some conversation around God’s Word.
We should be done
by 9:30 at the latest; that’s A.M. not P.M. Please make use of the sign
up sheet in the Narthex so Pastor can plan accordingly. See you there!
Come join the men of Atonement at a Rochester Razorsharks basketball game in February and a Red Wings baseball game in early June for a night of fellowship and fun.
